Born and raised in the Bronx, Eric C. Henry has dedicated his life to community activism.  Throughout his undergraduate years at Binghamton University, he was involved in a number of organizations such as the Black Student Union and Caribbean Student Association.  While there, he also helped found a number of new organizations on campus, such as a male outreach and support group, and a male juvenile detention center outreach program.

While pursuing his JD at New York Law School, Eric coordinated several legal outreach trips to New Orleans, Louisiana and represented low-income New Yorkers in mediation disputes against the New York City Department of Education and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. He was also honored to have been the Vincent A. Carbonell Fellow in Law and Policy for the Justice Action Center, and a Shepard Broad’27 Scholar.

Eric has served on the boards of several community non-profit organizations, such as Wesley Parrot Youth Programs and the Alpha Phi Alpha Senior Citizens Center, Inc.  He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and a Big Brother from 2008-2013.  He has been an active member of the New York Urban League Young Professionals since 2012, and served as Chairperson of their Community Service Committee from 2014-2015. He has worked for the New York City Council, and currently works for the New York Botanical Garden.  Eric looks forward to promoting volunteerism, civic outreach and personal/professional development for BYD.
